Competencies
Effective in speaking and writing, communication. demonstrates active listening, accurate message interpretation, and appropriate response. Clarification-seeking questions are asked, and a curiosity in two-way communication is shown. language, tone, style, and format are adjusted to the target audience. Openness in information sharing and keeping the public informed is displayed.
Education
Applicants must have finished or be enrolled in a university degree program at the time of application. The program must be in a subject area that includes political science, journalism, public or business administration, marketing, business, or communications.
• Understanding of online publishing and communication tools. Experience with layout and design would be beneficial.
Experience at Work
For the UN Internship Program, there is no prerequisite for prior employment. During your internship, the United Nations should profit from your training, education, advanced coursework, or abilities.
Languages Fluency in English in reading, writing, and speaking is needed. Working knowledge of an Organizational second language—Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish—is preferred.
Assessment
An assessment exercise and a competency-based interview may both be used to evaluate competent individuals.
