Military Gender Advisor Online Training

The United Nations Department of Peace Operations (DOP), the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) and France reiterate their commitment to equality gender and women’s empowerment, especially in the context of peacekeeping operations where the protection of women and girls and their participation in peace processes remain a major issue.

So that UN peace operations can better integrate a gender perspective in the implementation of their mandates, the UN DOP and UNITAR, with the support of the OIF and France, have developed the first UN training dedicated to military gender advisers (CMGs) and military gender focal points (PFMGs) within peace operations.

The training will enable participants to be sufficiently equipped to act as gender advisers or gender focal points in the military component of peace operations, thus emphasizing in practice the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council on Women, Peace and Security, (FPS) while taking more into account the socio-cultural context of the theaters of operations, the protection of civilians, the protection of children and conflict-related sexual violence.
