Application for a Grant opened

The Fund for Investigative Journalism offers grants and other forms of assistance to journalists in order to help them publish impactful, objective, and neutral investigative articles.

Grants are available to media outlets, staff reporters, and freelance journalists for their investigative work on books, videos, podcasts, print, web, or broadcast articles.

We offer a variety of grants, including:

Grants with expedited review: We occasionally offer grants with expedited review for requests that are so urgent that they cannot.

Applications are evaluated on a rolling basis, and candidates are notified of the results in a span of two to four weeks.

Funds for follow-up: We welcome submissions for prompt coverage of innovative research conducted with Fund funds. Recipients of grants may request expedited evaluation for subsequent awards up to • Threats to American Democracy: Up to $10,000 in funding are available for stories that break new ground and reveal wrongdoing associated with threats to American democracy. Proposals will be reviewed by us in a rolling fashion. Within two to four weeks of the application being submitted, grant decisions are anticipated.

Diversity Fellowship: The Fund for Investigative Journalism is dedicated to promoting diversity in the investigative journalism industry, and as such, we provide diversity fellowships.
